In London, Gordon was inspired by British chef Marco Pierre White's success, and called him up for a job. Marco decided to give the young chef a shot, and was so impressed by Gordon, that he offered him a job.

Aubergine
Aubergine was a restaurant which was the result of a deal between Marco and Gordon. The deal was to turn around a failing restaurant in exchange for 25% ownership of the business. Gordon couldn't pass this deal up, so he got right to work.

However, despite the restaurant being a success, a dispute with Ramsay's business owners, who wanted to expand the Aubergine into a chain, and Ramsay's dream of running his own restaurant led to his leaving the partnership in July 1998. Gordon this decision to set out on his own "the most important day of my entire cooking career; the most important decision of my life."
Restaurant Gordon Ramsay
Opened in 1998, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is Gordon's first establishment he truly owned. During this point, Gordon had also agreed to be filmed for what ended up becoming his first foray into television, "Boiling Point." (See more about Boiling Point in the "Television Career" tab above!)
Through hard work and perseverance, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay finally gained it's third Michelin-star in 2001, making him the first scot to achieve the feat.

Success
Using the momentum that was gained from Restaurant Gordon Ramsay's success, Gordon expanded his empire rapidly, opening up more restaurants all around the world. With each new establishment, praise and Michelin-stars were bound to follow, cementing his name in culinary history.
